Trump declares permanent 10% tariff policy

Bitcoin is currently priced at $103,000.
On May 10, as financial markets analyze new statements from U.S. President Donald Trump, he indicated that his administration would impose a “minimum” 10% tariff on every import, allowing exemptions solely under very rare circumstances.

Essentially, we’ll maintain a minimum tariff rate of 10%,” Trump stated to journalists at a policy briefing. He further explained, “A deviation from the standard 10% tariff might occur under extraordinary circumstances.

The remarks solidify Trump’s aggressive stance on trade just as investor attention shifts toward inflation, global supply chains, and geopolitical tensions. Despite warnings from economists about the inflationary impact of broad tariffs, Trump’s tone remains bullish.

We have about 4 or 5 trade deals lined up right away,” he stated. “A lot of deals are queued up ahead.

Despite the ongoing rally in the cryptocurrency sector due to expectations of interest-rate cuts and economic volatility, the markets demonstrated minimal instant response. Bitcoin’s value stayed consistently over $103,000, whereas Ethereum fluctuated near $2,340.
