Reddit User Called $100K Bitcoin Boost in 2014 — Yet Missed Out on Payday

Although numerous financial commentators constantly offer price forecasts within the cryptocurrency markets every single day, it is quite uncommon for these predictions to actually prove correct.

Nevertheless, aReddit user had created
Bitcoin
price forecast from 2014 that ended up being accurate.

The individual known as oldie101
had posted
On April 18, 2014, in the MarkMywords subreddit, someone posted that Bitcoin would reach a value of $100,000 per coin by 2025.

On the same day that the user initially posted, Bitcoin’s value stood just under $500.

At that time, the post garnered
a snarky comment
, “Keep dreaming.”

When the king coin’s value exceeded $100,000 on May 8th, the post started gaining traction. People began leaving celebratory comments and enquiring whether the poster had become wealthy.

But the original poster
told everyone
That he unfortunately did not hold onto his Bitcoin. The phrase ‘HODL’ is a commonly used expression within the cryptocurrency community which means keeping your digital currency despite market downturns.

The user mentioned that they continually traded the cryptocurrency over the years.

“I’ve been stating that for the last 11 years. However, life is quite pleasant without Bitcoin, so I have nothing to grumble about,” he remarked.

It was noted that Bitcoin first hit the $100,000 milestone on December 4, 2024, which occurred approximately one month following Donald Trump’s victory in the 2024 presidential election on November 5, 2024.

On January 20, when Trump was being sworn in as president, the cryptocurrency hit its peak at $108,786.

As per
Kraken’s price feed
At the time of writing, Bitcoin was trading at $103,313 per coin.
